When people talk about Chemdog, two things happen, either they end up talking for hours about its glory or the other where the other person just skips to the next topic and judges you slowly. Chemdog has a great reputation in the cannabis industry and amongst cannabis lovers. So if you don’t know it yet, don’t worry because you won’t be that friend anymore after this.

What is Chemdog

Chemdog, a legendary strain, famous for its incredibly potent high and pungent, diesel, chemical-like flavors. Hybrids such as Sour Diesel, GMO Cookies, and Motorbreath all came from Chemdog’s genetics.

The strain’s origin dates to the early ’90s.  This happened when someone named Greg met P Bud and Joe Brand at a Grateful Dead concert parking lot in Deep Creek, Indiana. Greg heard about the flower “Dogbud” from the two of them and decided to have a try. It was not like any other weed he smoked so asked the two to send more of them back home to Massachusetts.

One of the bags sent contained the 13 seeds which Greg grew later became the 3 magical strains called Chem 91, Chem’s Sister, and ChemDog B. They have unique features in which they have a diesel-like aroma and flavor. The name Chemdog was created when Greg took the previous flower’s name and combined it with the new one. Later, two more phenotypes came out which were Chem #4 and Chem D.

P Bud and Joe Brand were later credited as the fathers of the gassy-flavored strain. It is good to know that Chemdog was not bred but rather was found as seeds. However, Greg bred a strain called “DogDaze” later.

What Is Dog Daze

DogDaze is the first and only strain that Greg Krzanowski, aka Chemdog, ever bred himself. It came from a Northern Lights #5 x Haze father crossed with a Chem D mother. Greg said it had a hazy smell with a grassy undertone which made it unique from the other strains.

It is a guaranteed hard-hitting strain when you smoke it. The reason behind it is because Chemdog is an Indica-dominant strain known for its fast, hard-hitting, long high. On the other hand, Northern Lights #5 x Haze is a Sativa-dominant strain. It is known for its spicy haze flavor followed by a head-rush type of high by the Haze genetics.

That being said, DogDaze is the perfect representation of a perfect blend of high potency, unique flavors, and invigorating heady effects. But why have you never heard of it?

Why Dogdaze Does Not Exist

Back in 2005, an unfortunate accident happened. Chemdog went to Las Vegas to meet other weed-breeders from an online cannabis forum. He brought with him about 600 DogDaze in order to spread it in the cannabis community.  Weed was still illegal back then so breeders need to exchange with others due to the lack of commercial and capitalist exploitation.

The unfortunate accident that would be the death of the DogDaze happened when Chemdog forgot the parcel of 600 seeds back in the hotel room. He was already a few hours down the road when it happened. He called the hotel, but they said they did not find anything. He suspected that the housekeeper threw the box away without checking what was inside.

Without the seeds, the only hope for DogDaze was Chemdog’s clones back home. But another unfortunate event struck. Back in 2011, Chemdog was busted by DEA and IRS, thus, bringing an end to the existence of the DogDaze strains.

Now that you aren’t that friend anymore, you can once again enjoy an awesome conversation with your friends about the legendary Chemdog. What else would be a better match for a great story? That’s right, it’s none other than a great quality cannabis product.
